FractaLit is built for readers who are tired of generic rec lists, overreliance on bestsellers, and loose filtering. Start with a fiction cluster, add the nuance that matters, and get a shortlist that feels closer to a sharp human recommender than a broad catalog search.
FractaLit recommendations come from a FractaLit-curated catalog. Open Library and Google Books provide background reference catalogs, but they do not directly generate the shortlist.
Subgenre
Choose the strongest subgenre signals first. (multi-select)
Tone / mood
Set the emotional and atmospheric texture you want. (multi-select)
Trope / include
Include the hooks you want the shortlist to lean toward. (multi-select)
Trope / avoid
Avoid tropes or patterns that usually miss for you. (multi-select)
Pacing / style
Choose the rhythm and style you want the recs to carry. (multi-select)
Favorites and comps
Add books or authors to give the ranking engine better taste anchors. Open Library appears first, Google Books second, and FractaLit's curated catalog fills in when external results are weak.
Nuance text
Optional. Use this to add edge conditions like "more gothic, less romance-heavy."
Add at least one strong signal such as a subgenre, tone, pacing choice, favorite, or nuance note before generating a shortlist.
Session state is restored automatically after your first run.
